Juliet balcony balustrades

In modern single-family and multi-family buildings, large windows installed from the floor level are often used. This allows the room to be illuminated and gives the effect of a larger space. For such solutions, we have designed the QUASPE Juliet balcony balustrade system. It consists of posts measuring 60×35 mm, a handrail and a glass profile in which the infill is mounted. The versatility of the solution means that the infill can also be made of aluminium profiles. An additional advantage is the possibility of installation in two variants: between insulating glyphs or in front of the facade, which allows installation regardless of the construction stage.

Safe use

At QUASPE, we make sure that each product we offer complies with applicable standards and regulations. We approach each order individually, making calculations that determine the mounting details, such as: spacing of posts. We take into account not only the loads resulting from the loads imposed by users, but also the forces of nature such as wind. We make sure that, in accordance with the technical conditions that buildings and their location should meet, we maintain the required balustrade heights and do not exceed the maximum clearances between the infill elements.

Structure

The balustrade structure consists of aluminium profiles. When designing our solution, we placed particular emphasis on aesthetics, reducing the number of visible connections to a minimum. The possibility of prefabricating ready-made profiles allows you to reduce the time required for installation.

The system is based on:

Post – a versatile solution regardless of the chosen installation method. Massive and designed in such a way that it is resistant to the forces in critical places.

Handrail – system profile with a width of approximately 70 or 90 mm, depending on the selected variant.

"H" / "J" profile – lower profiles in which the infill is placed. Used alternately depending on the selected solution.

Baluster – a system solution with dimensions of 20×38 mm allowing for infill in a vertical orientation.

All aluminium profiles are powder-coated in any colour from the RAL palette, obtaining various surface finishes. Thanks to their resistance to changing weather conditions and mechanical damage, they retain their appearance for a very long time. Aluminium and glass balustrades are one of the leading products in our offer.

Infill

Glass – the most popular infill used in balustrades. A wide range of colours and the option to choose translucency make selection easy and allow universal use. The thickness and type of glass are selected depending on the balustrade type.

Aluminium profiles – the infill may be made from our 20 × 38 mm system profiles for balustrades with balusters installed vertically, or from standard aluminium profiles, such as 20 × 20 × 2 mm rectangular tube, when the profiles are to be installed horizontally.

Installation method

There are two installation variants of QUASPE Juliet balcony balustrades. The first is installation in a window reveal, which allows you to create a balustrade that does not extend beyond the face of the building. This is a very aesthetic solution because the fasteners are almost invisible. Please remember that it is necessary to plan such an installation before the façade is constructed. The fasteners attached to the wall are covered with a layer of insulation at a later stage. The second way is to install it on the façade. It can be performed even when the façade is already finished. Anchoring to the wall is done through the insulation layer using a spacer sleeve.

Installing Juliet balcony balustrades directly to the window frame does not guarantee sufficient strength and may result in the loss of the manufacturer's warranty on the installed windows. The advantage of our solutions is the versatility of the mountings, thanks to which they do not require installation to the window frame.

FAQ – frequently asked questions about Juliet balcony balustrades

1. What is the difference between a Juliet balcony balustrade and a traditional balustrade?

A Juliet balcony balustrade is installed in window openings where the sill is lower than required by technical conditions. It secures full-height windows installed from floor level, through which users cannot step outside because there is no balcony slab. Traditional balustrades are installed on balconies, loggias or terraces raised at least 0.5 m above ground level.

2. What materials are QUASPE Juliet balcony balustrades made of?

We use only aluminium and glass. The aluminium structural profiles are powder-coated according to the RAL palette, ensuring an aesthetic appearance. The glass used in the infill guarantees timeless design and long-lasting visual consistency.

3. How long does it take to make and install a Juliet balcony balustrade?

The order lead time depends on the scope of the offer. We enable the purchase of raw, powder-coated or prefabricated profiles, as well as full bars. The deadline is always adjusted individually based on the agreed scope. If both our systems and other systems are used, the installation time should be agreed with the contractor.

4. What dimensions can a Juliet balcony balustrade have?

Standard solutions are adapted to windows not exceeding 1.8 m in width. The type of solution used is analysed individually each time from a structural perspective to ensure safe use. The permissible dimension depends on the height of the Juliet balcony and the type of substrate to which it is fixed.

5. How to care for a Juliet balcony balustrade and does it require maintenance?

The balustrades do not require maintenance. Regular cleaning of the glass and profiles with a mild cleaning agent is sufficient. Powder-coated aluminium guarantees a durable appearance for many years.

6. Can Juliet balcony balustrades be installed in an existing building?

Yes, our systems allow installation both in new developments and in buildings already in use. We always recommend an individual consultation to determine the available possibilities, potential limitations and the client's needs.

7. Does QUASPE produce individual designs of Juliet balcony balustrades?

Yes, we carry out projects adapted to the dimensions and character of the building, always based on our system profiles. Individual solutions are developed within the technical capabilities of the system, which guarantees safety, durability and visual consistency of the structure.
