Aluminium and glass balustrades

The QUASPE balustrade system consists of aluminium profiles, system connectors and a steel anchor plate (galvanized), which ensures adequate load-bearing capacity and safety of use. The vertical supporting element is an aluminium post with dimensions of 60 × 35 mm. The type of infill is selected depending on the intended effect and may be: glass, composite board or HPL, which is installed in horizontal “J” or “H” profiles. The balustrade is topped with a 90 mm wide handrail – constituting the basis for supporting any sliding or slide-and-turn enclosure. All aluminium profiles are powder-coated in any colour from the RAL palette, giving the balustrade an aesthetic and modern look. Balustrade elements are connected using system connectors, which makes the installation process quick, easy and “clean”. The developed instructions allow for the prefabrication of all elements without the need to cut profiles on the site, reducing installation time to a minimum.

A great advantage of our system, which distinguishes us from the competition, is the ability to use a fascia panel covering the face of the balcony slab, the height of which can be adjusted to the required size. The optional use of a drip cap also allows for an aesthetic finish to the bottom of the balustrade, while allowing water to fall freely beyond its face.

Safe use

We approach each order individually, making calculations that determine the mounting details, such as: spacing of posts. We take into account not only the loads resulting from the loads imposed by users, but also the forces of nature such as wind. We make sure that, in accordance with the technical conditions that buildings and their location should meet, we maintain the required balustrade heights and do not exceed the maximum clearances between the infill elements.

Structure

The balustrade structure consists of aluminium profiles, and available solutions can be found in the catalogue. It is also possible to design and produce profiles tailored to individual customer needs.

The system is based on:

Post – a versatile solution regardless of the chosen installation method. Massive and designed in such a way that it is resistant to the forces in critical places.

Handrail – the upper, flat surface of the handrail allows for the installation of fixed, sliding or slide-and-turn enclosures.

"H" / "J" profile – lower profiles in which the infill is placed. Used alternately depending on the selected solution. "J" profile – closing, or "H" profile when there is more than 1 infill in the balustrade solution, e.g. glass + fascia panel.

All aluminium profiles are powder-coated in any colour from the RAL palette. Thanks to their resistance to changing weather conditions and mechanical damage, they retain their appearance for a very long time. Aluminium and glass balustrades are one of the leading products in our offer.

Infill

Glass – the most popular infill. It can be used both as the upper infill and as the lower fascia panel masking the front of the balcony slab. Laminated VSG 44.2 glass is most commonly used in balustrades. A wide range of colours and the option to choose transparency make selection easy and make it universally applicable.

Composite panel – consists of two outer layers of aluminium and an inner core forming the infill layer. The material has excellent mechanical properties, high impact resistance, increased stiffness and reduced weight. The range of colours offered by manufacturers of this material and its opacity make it a popular solution for fascia panels masking the front of the balcony slab.

HPL – a layered thermosetting material. It is made of several or a dozen or so layers of paper which, after being impregnated with phenolic resin, are pressed under high pressure and temperature. This process produces compact HPL panels and thin HPL laminates. For balustrades, it is essential to select a panel intended for outdoor use.

Installation method

Two variants of installation of QUASPE aluminium balustrades are standardly available. You can choose from face mounting or top mounting to the balcony or terrace slab. The first solution is more common due to the lack of interference with the waterproofing layer. Mounting to the front is done using an anchor plate fixed with system anchors. The anchor plate can be covered with the facade at a later stage or, as is the case with balcony slabs using “isokorb” type thermal connectors, remain visible. By face mounting, we do not lose space on the balcony as would be the case with mounting from the top. We can cover the front of the balcony slab using fascia panels made of, among others, glass, composite panels or HPL. A major advantage of our solution is the standard availability of various sizes of anchor plates attached to the front.

1. Are glass balcony balustrades safe and durable?

Definitely yes. In QUASPE balustrades we use laminated glass and toughened laminated glass where required. This solution means that even if a glass pane breaks, it remains held in the glazing profiles. The structural profiles are designed to withstand loads from users and wind. Individual technical documentation based on applicable standards and regulations defines the installation guidelines.

2. What are the advantages of aluminium balustrades compared to solutions made of other materials?

Aluminium is lightweight compared with other metals, while remaining exceptionally durable and corrosion-resistant. It does not require maintenance, which distinguishes it from steel and wood. Powder coating makes it possible to obtain any colour from the RAL palette, from classic white to modern anthracite shades. This solution combines aesthetics, durability and long-term comfort of use.

3. How is glass balustrade installation carried out and how long does it take?

The QUASPE system has been designed so that installation is quick and clean. All elements can be prefabricated, which means there is no need to cut profiles on site. The work can be divided into the mounting plate stage and the structure and infill stage. The mounting plate stage starts with setting out and drilling holes, anchoring and then installing the mounting plates. Measurements are then taken, on the basis of which guidelines for prefabricating the structure are prepared. The individual installation stages are planned to make the process predictable and efficient.

4. Do glass balustrades require special care?

No, keeping them clean is very simple. It is enough to periodically wash the glass with glass cleaner and wipe the aluminium profiles with a soft cloth, remembering not to use any products containing abrasive particles. Using such products may scratch the coating. The coating is resistant to UV radiation, moisture and changing temperatures, so QUASPE balustrades retain their appearance for many years without additional maintenance treatments.

5. What are the options for personalising glass balustrades?

We offer a wide range of options for adapting the appearance and structure of the balustrade. You can choose the profile colour from the full RAL palette, the type of glass, including clear, matt, milky or graphite glass, and several standard types of mounting plates and cores make it easy to adapt the system to the installation location. A masking fascia or system drip profile can be used to enhance the aesthetics of the project.

6. How much does a glass balustrade cost and what does the price depend on?

The price of a balustrade depends primarily on the dimensions and shape of the balcony slabs, the type of glass, the profile finish and the installation system. Each project is priced individually, so the investor receives a solution tailored to their needs.
