Glass deflection tests

Do glass ceilings, stairs or platforms scare you a bit? Are such solutions really safe? Glass can be much more durable than you might think.

We decided to check it out – practically and without compromise.

As part of our series of tests, we tested the glass deflection under load. The aim was to check how different types and thicknesses of glass behave in real use conditions.

For testing, we used glass with dimensions of 1000 x 1500 mm, in several configurations:

  • monolithic tempered and non-toughened glass with thicknesses of 4, 6, 8 and 10 mm,
  • laminated glass VSG 44.2 and 55.2,
  • VSG/ESG insulated glass 44.2, 55.2, 66.4, 88.4 and 1010.4.

Each test allowed us to observe not only the deflection of the glass, but also the moment of its ultimate strength. The results clearly show that modern glass used in aluminium and glass systems can surprise with its resistance and flexibility. Properly selected, it can successfully serve as a structural element – without risk and with complete security.

That is why we use proven and certified glass in QUASPE systems, which ensure durability, safety and aesthetics for many years. For us, glass is not only a decorative element, but a full-fledged structural component that can meet the most demanding projects – from balustrades and enclosures to canopy.

Conducting real tests of materials is not only interesting, but above all an expression of our operating philosophy. Therefore, instead of relying solely on manufacturers’ declarations, we check everything ourselves – in practice, in real conditions, under real load.

Thanks to this, we are sure that each balustrade, enclosure or canopy with our logo is not only an aesthetic product, but above all, proven, safe and durable. It is this standard of trust and quality that we build with our customers every day.
